Amed Tour
Amed, a scenic coastal district on the eastern point of Bali, Indonesia, is known not only for its beautiful beaches and bright coral reefs but also for its rich cultural and historical attractions. An Amed tour offers an exquisite experience as it takes travelers through the core of Bali’s cultural history. Let’s look at some of the must-see places that make an Amed tour an unforgettable experience.
1. Museum Pustaka Lontar: Preserving Bali’s Literary Heritage
Museum Pustaka Lontar is a tribute to Bali’s literary legacy. This museum is dedicated to conserving old palm-leaf manuscripts known as lontar and provides insight into the island’s literary heritage. Visitors can admire the exquisite carvings on the lontar leaves, which depict stories from mythology, folklore, and religious beliefs. The museum is an invaluable resource for learning Bali’s cultural roots.
2. Ujung Water Palace: A Majestic Blend of Architecture and Nature
Ujung Water Palace, also known as Ujung Park or Sukasada Park, is a stunning combination of Balinese and European architectural styles. The palace, built by the King of Karangasem in the early twentieth century, is encircled by large lakes, elegant bridges, and lush gardens. The breathtaking magnificence of Ujung Water Palace against the backdrop of Mount Agung makes it the ideal location for a leisurely stroll and admiration of Balinese workmanship.
3. Tenganan Old Village: Embracing Traditions of the Bali Aga
Tenganan Old Village is a living monument to Bali’s indigenous people, the Bali Aga, who continue to practice traditional traditions. Surrounded by towering walls, this one-of-a-kind community provides a look into a bygone era through its well-preserved customs and rituals. Visitors can see traditional dances, examine local crafts, and learn about the peculiar double-ikat weaving method called gringsing, which is unique to the area.
4. Tirta Gangga Water Palace: Tranquil Oasis of Water Gardens
Tirta Gangga, or “Water of the Ganges,” is a tranquil water palace with a succession of ponds, fountains, and lush gardens. The palace, built by the Karangasem royal dynasty, is a calm refuge where tourists can unwind amidst the grandeur of nature. Tirta Gangga embodies the Balinese notion of harmony between man and nature, making it a perfect place for reflection and recuperation.
5. Lempuyang Temple: Gateway to Spiritual Enlightenment
Lempuyang Temple, located on the slopes of Mount Lempuyang, is one of Bali’s oldest and most sacred locations. The temple complex comprises seven temples, each of which may be reached by climbing over 1,700 stairs. Panorama vistas of the surrounding landscapes and the famed “Gateway to Heaven,” a Balinese split gate that frames the spectacular Mount Agung, reward the journey.
AMED TOUR REVIEWS
We used Amed Bali Adventure to get around Amed while we were there for 3 nights.
Our driver Putu was amazing! He has a very good level of English, so it was easy to speak to him and also for him to explain certain attraction or information to us.
On the first day with him, we hired him for a half-day tour and he showed us around Amed, it's local attractions and restaurants to eat and have cocktails.
